Case Study
Tito's Tacos
The legendary greater Los Angeles Mexican food eatery had never had a web presence, much less an online ordering system.
Client - Tito's Tacos
Year - 2019-2020
The problem
Tito's Tacos had no online ordering. Their faithful customers would have to visit the restaurant itself to order food, as orders over the phone were not accepted. Long lines and long wait times combined with a pandemic lockdown meant that Tito's needed some help serving their customers. They were forced to close due to COVID but wanted the point of sale system available for reopening on June 1, 2020.
What we did
-
1
Tito's Tacos web presence was limited to a display for their menu and some contact information. The clients directive was to use the existing imagery of that menu display - nacho cheese background, 2-dimensional lowrider car and palm tree graphics - and craft a simple and elegant online ordering system.

Using existing look and feel, I organized and designed the ordering system for brevity, as the clients were concerned that too much sophistication and "doodads" would not go over well with their customer base. The system also needed to account for massive orders from movie production studios and catering for large corporate events.

The prevalence of mobile devices meant that this application would be designed mobile-first. Upon client approval, I coded the interface in React while my partner developed the database. After deployment, the system proved so successful that additional staff has hired dedicated to servicing online orders and online orders remain a vital part of their business today.
Looks so good to me! Looks fabulous on my phone!
